Taronga Zoo - Sydney
69
Taronga Zoo is just over 21 hectares of beautiful waterfront land allowing the giraffes and visitors a spectacular view of the Sydney Harbour and Sydney's skyline. It is set in a natural foreshore bushland. Taronga is an Aboriginal word meaning "wateview", the zoo was officially opened in 7th October 1916 and has long been at the forefront of keeping the animals in less restricted enclosures.
This is a great place to meet native Australian wildlife, you can see kangaroos, wallabies, dingoes, emus, wombats, Tasmanian devil and many brightly coloured birds and don't forget, you can have your photos taken with a koala. Taronga Zoo has a variety of animal presentations and keepers talks, it has also daily shows include trained seals and birds and there are keeper presentations on penguins, bears reptiles, chimps and dingoes.
Taronga Zoo is also strong on its support for wildlife conservation program and is evident in its endangered species breeding programme.
You can also spend the night camping out with the animals in the comfort of built in Safari tent at Taronga Zoo, so you can experience the sounds of sleeping in the jungle.
A visit to the zoo is an exciting experience to the children, there are many activities and holiday programs that you and your family can enjoy at Taronga Zoo, two hours is not enough there are lots of things to see and do.
