This is a simple and easy dessert recipe that you will love to make, especially now that it is summer and there are plenty of mangoes, I usually buy a box of mangoes because it is cheaper and when I have enough of them I will make this yummy mango ice cream, it is just divine. . .

So easy, even kids can do it.

What you need:

2 ripe mangoes

1 orange

1 lime

1 cup sugar

½ cup cream (whipped)

Procedures:

  1. Peel and slice the mangoes. (throw out the seed in the middle after scraping off the fruit)

  2. Juice the orange and lime using a juicer.

  3. Blend the mango using a food processor (or blender) until you make a puree.

  4. Add the orange juice, lime juice and sugar.

  5. Pour into a metal or plastic bowl and fold in the cream.

  6. Put in the freezer for 45 minutes.

  7. Remove from the freezer and whisk until smooth, this will give it a creamy texture, then return back to the freezer and whisk again after 20 minutes.

  8. Store in an ice cream container in the freezer or you can put it in an ice cube tray.

  9. Spread a small amount of whipped cream on top to serve.

Enjoy !!!

This is one way to store mangoes if you have an overload of them. At home, mangoes don't last long to be made into ice cream :)

Hi Whitney,

Mangoes are green when they are not ripe and turn yellow or orangy in some varieties, when ripe. But I seldom see green mangoes sold in the supermarket today.

MM- how do you know if a mango is ripe or not? I always have this problem when trying to find mangos for my bearded dragons.
