I just love summer because all my favourite fruits are available. This is an enjoyable and different way to serve fruits to kids and adults alike. It is an ideal children's party fare, it is both yummy and healthy. When served with a yoghurt, these fruit kebabs are guaranteed to please the fussiest eaters.

It will be fun and enjoyable if kids are allowed to choose which fruits they would like to put in their stick.

You will need 20-30 minutes of preparation time. For safety, it is recommended that children should be supervised by adults while preparing this recipe.

You will need:

6 strawberries

¼ rockmelon

3 kiwi fruits

¼ watermelon seedless

2 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Icing sugar for dusting (optional)

Juice of 1 lime

  • Bamboo skewers - make sure that you trim the sharp ends of the sticks with scissors, especially if you are serving children.

Cutting the fruits:

  • Peel and quarter the kiwi fruits.

  • Remove the stalk from the strawberry and cut into half.

  • Cut the watermelon into cubes

  • Cut the rockmelon into cubes (skin and seeds removed) Or if you like you can use a baller to make them into a ball.

Procedures:

  • Put all the fruits into a large bowl and pour the lime juice over the fruit and gently mix the sugar.

  • Thread 5- six pieces of fruits into each stick alternately e.g. strawberry, kiwi, rock melon and then watermelon to create a colourful presentation.

  • Put the kebabs on a plate and refrigerate if not serving right away.

  • Just before serving dust with icing sugar.

Tips:

  • You can also serve the with a bowl of fruit yoghurt for dipping.

  • If the fruits are not in season you can substitute and make your own set of fruits. e.g. (apple, mangoes, grapes, pineapple)

Enjoy !!!
