Chinese New Year Parade - Sydney

The Chinese-Australian community holds a variety of events to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. In Sydney the festivities runs over with 50 events over three weeks, it is one of Sydney's most popular events.

There are different entertainment and events to enjoy during the new year celebration this includes night markets, Grand Parade, Dragon Boat, display of giant lanterns, fireworks display.

My favourite event is the Sydney's Chinese New Year Parade. The parade starts at Sydney Town Hall on George Street, then weaves it way through Chinatown ending at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour.

The parade usually starts at 11.00 am to and ends at around 1.30 pm, it is a two and half hours parade of decorated floats, dragon dance, acrobats and a lot of colours and sounds.

I usually come an hour early arm with my digital camera and to make sure that I have a good view and to snap lots of photos. And don't forget to say "Kung Hei Fat Choy " (Happy New Year)
