Who is Charice Pempengco?
Charice Pempengco is a young Filipina singer who became a singing sensation through YouTube. Although born with her awesome talents, Charice has to work very hard to get to where she is today.
Before the YouTube spotlight, she has been joining singing contests since the age of seven, she became widely known when she was 12 years old when she placed third in 2005 "Little Big Star", a singing contest in the Philippines. Since this singing contest Charice Pempengco is under contract with Star Records a subsidiary of ABS-CBN.
- When FalseVoice released a video of Charice singing Dreamgirls' "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going", she was invited by South Korea Seoul Broadcasting System to perform on a talent show "Star King". She also sang a duet, "A Whole New World", with Cho Kyu Hyun, a famous korean singer.
- Charice fans reposted her Star King performance on YouTube, and Charice was featured into American Television TV network E!'s The Daily Ten featured her Star King performance with the headline, "A Star Is Born" on November 2007.
- Her performance on Star King was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on its November 28, episode, where Ellen showed web videos of different people she would like to have as guests on the show.
Charice was on Oprah Winfrey Show for a special episode for "The Oprah Winfrey Show," where she shares the stage with other gifted children. For Charice, singing on Oprah's stage is a dream come true. "I can't believe I'm here standing with you," she says. "I can't believe I'm hugging you !" Charice recieved a standing ovation from Oprah and her audience.
Charice sang a duet with Celine Dion in Madison Square Garden last September 15, 2008. One of her dreams was to sing with her idol Celine Dion. This duet is a dream come true to her.

On December 19, 2007 Charice sang "And I Am Telling You, I'm Not Going" and "I Will Always Love You", hit songs from "Dreamgirls" and "Bodyguard." on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in Los Angeles, California. Ellen's audience were blown away by Charice's renditions, no wonder Charice received a standing obviations on both of her songs.

I agree with you francis cubero. Thought charice won the competition in little big star. I can't imagine such talented amazing girl not winning the title. The same with Sheryn Regis against Erick Santos. Erick was favored over such a brilliant crystal voice of Sheryn. ABS-CBN always has a LUTO-MAKAW singing competition show/program.
