Born on Christmas Day

By MM Del Rosario

Christmas is a special day, a time to celebrate - a time of rejoicing of solemn thanksgiving, a time of being together with family and friends.

On this day also, throughout the centuries, people from different walks of life were born on this special day and have achieved wonderful and extraordinary things that have made them famous in different field of endeavours. Their achievements, inventions, jobs created through their business, their accomplishments have made a big difference in the world we lived in now.

Here is my list of famous people who were born on Christmas Day.

Sir Isaac Newton - English scientist, astronomer and mathematician

Born on December 25, 1642 in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. Newton is the most influential scientist who ever lived. His accomplishments in mathematics, optics, and physics laid the foundations for modern science and revolutionized the world.

  • As mathematician, Newton invented integral calculus.
  • He was the first to understand and explain gravity in mathematical terms.
  • He defined the laws of motion and universal gravitaiton which he used to predict precisely the motions of stars and the planets around the sun.
  • Using his discoveries in optics Newton constructed the first reflecting telescope.

Newton died in London on March 20, 1727 and was buried in Westminster Abbey, the first scientist to be accorded this honor.

Helena Rubenstein was born on December 25, 1870 at Cracow, Poland. At the age of 18, she emigrated to Melbourne, Australia, and at the age of 20 began her cosmetics business with a single product, a simple face cream.

At a time when career opportunities for women were virtually nonexistent, Helena Rubinstein created a successful business enterprise, which expanded from Melbourne to London in 1902, to Paris in 1906, and to New York in 1912. The international cosmetics empire she created earned her a reputation as one of the world's most successful businesswomen.

Quotes from Helena Rubenstein:

  • "There are no ugly women, only lazy ones"
  • "All the American women had purple noses and gray lips and their faces were chalk white from terrible powder. I recognized that the United States could be my life's work."
  • "Men are just as vain as women, and sometimes even more so."

I prefer to say that I was born on December 25th rather than Christmas day. To me, they are still two separate days. When my mother gave birth to me, her roommate who had also given birth on the same day died d/t complications. Over the years, I have often thought of that child who lost his mother. How very sad. Anyhow, to all those celebrating their birthdays on December 25th, Happy Birthday!

I was born on Christmas Day 1956. I love my birthday and always have. I loved reading the profiles of others. Yes, I get double the presents, and every Christmas night I try to find a little time to walk outside and look into the sky and thank God for allowing me to be born on the day that represents Him, and for the blessings of always being with my family and haveing the time off. One funny side note. Whenever I'm asked when my bday is, I reply, "Christmas 56' ," and it always gets a comment. Very easy for people, since they know the day. :) blessings to all my other xmas brothers and sisters out there. My mother-in-law is the 24th as well, and our family let's us open first, and only wraps in birthday wrap. Never lost in Christmas here, only more special.

I'm a christmas child. I got over it all when I turned 16, but now that I've seen all those famous people, I'm almost a man of changed mind. If they can be big guns, so can I. I'm still hoping to become a cross between a successful fictional writer and a photographic digital artist . I still have a week ahead of me till 2011's christmas rolls on by

I'm in great company with each one of you and all the famous people, mainly, our Lord Jesus Christ who truly is the reason for the season. God bless us everyone... I have mixed feelings aboust being born on Christmas Day.

I feel honored to share my b-day with the lord Jesus and other famous people. However, My birthday is not special sto everyone else since it's the holiday itself, and the reason for the season. Sooooooooooooo people tend to forget to say happy birthday to me. They usually say Merry Christmas, and I usually have to remind others that it's my birthday also. Well, at the end of the day, I'am glad to see another year of life and to be so blessed by God.

I was born on Christmas day aswell 1985 People always think im lying when they find out? I dont know why you would lie. and then the questions poor in "Do you get double presents?' and they always want to know if i like having my bday on xmas, and I always say that I dont know any different, I tend to feel a little wierd opening presents if other people arent, because im so used to sharing my day with everyone. I love the fact that everyone looks forward to my birthday every year and every one celebrates. I used to share my bday with one of my Parents friends and we used to share a bday cake together... Yay for all us Xmas dayers!!! :)

I too was born on Christmas Day. It's an honor to have the same natal day as those great men and our Lord Jesus Christ. I feel I am special. I love to see the sparkle in the eyes of people upon knowing that I was born on December 25. I love celebrating my birthday because of the thought that people around the world are celebrating it, too.
