Bondi beach is Sydney's most famous beach and an Australian icon. Bondi is an aboriginal name roughly means, "noise of tumbling waters" , a description that sums up this beach and its rolling surf.

Bondi is the closest beach to the city (8 kilometres from city to sand) and home to one of the oldest Surf Life Saving Clubs (1906). The beach is roughly a kilometre long and is patrolled by lifesavers.
