75Bondi beach is Sydney's most famous beach and an Australian icon. Bondi is an aboriginal name roughly means, "noise of tumbling waters" , a description that sums up this beach and its rolling surf.
Bondi is the closest beach to the city (8 kilometres from city to sand) and home to one of the oldest Surf Life Saving Clubs (1906). The beach is roughly a kilometre long and is patrolled by lifesavers.
There are some fantastic pubs, bars, and cafes as well as good bookshops, and surf and clothing shops along Campbell Parade, it is a lively and busy atmosphere
During summer you will likely to witness surf carnival and beach events.
You can even play golf overlooking the ocean at the public Bondi Golf Course.
Bondi is a great place to stay with a growing range of accommodation, including hostels, bed and breakfast and hotels to suit all budgets.
Sydneysiders come to this world-famous strip of surf and sand to relax and play. Whether it is summer or winter, you can swim, surf, sunbathe, walk, jog eat, drink or simply just sit in the sand and enjoy the view.

Bondi Beach is also the end point of the City to Surf Fun Run which is held each year in August.
The race attracts thousands of runners not only from Sydney but even overseas, entrants complete 14 km run from Park St and College Street and go through the city and finished at Bondi Beach.

Sculpture by the Sea at Bondi Beach
Bondi beach is the home of the annual event Sculpture by the Sea which features over 100 sculptures designed by artist around the world.
Sculpture by the Sea is one of Australia's largest annual outdoor free to public exhibition, the sculptures are staged along the coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama Beach for just under three weeks, usually late October to early November.

I especially love the sculpture by Frank Malerba 'Bondi Fashion Accessory'. It's simply fascinating. Some people are just extremely talented.
Looks great and the sand looks white. Not many beaches have white sand except over here in the west (australia) In some places very fine look pristeen.
