The Brothers Gibbs
The Bee Gees story is one of a family, composed of talented, detemined, unstoppable trio of the Gibbs brother, Barry and fraternal twins Maurice and Robin. Three outstanding songwriters, singers, producers and musicians.
For over 40 years, they have produced world - wide record sales of more than 200 million, they are in the top five of the most successful recording artists of all time.
With hit records in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and in the new Millennium, the Bee Gees have become the first group ever to have such success over 5 consecutive decades.
I have been a Bee Gees fan since I was in high school, at that time, I can only hear their songs played in the radio, when I finally got my first casette record player, the first audio casette record I bought of course was the Bee Gees greatest hits!
I have so many favourite Bee Gees song, I could not name them all here, but for a complete list of Bee Gees song you can check it at Bee Gees Discography .
Thanks to YouTube and to all the Bee Gees fan who share their Bee Gees Videos, especially the "One Night Only" concert.
Here are some of my favourites, I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.
1968 - I Started a Joke
According to Robin Gibb the idea of the song " I Started a Joke ", came when he was siting on the plane over Germany and heard a melody in the droning of the engine. As soon as he got on the ground that night he completed the song with Barry and Maurice.
For him it was a very spiritual song, about faith and survival in life. It wasn't a love song, it was one of the first song they wrote about struggling to survive emotionally alone in the world.

1977 - How Deep Is Your Love
This song was ranked #366 on the Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. This song has a universal connotations and it clicks with everyone. According to Robin Gibb before they cut the song they knew they could fuse some of their own personalities into the track. Love is the anchor, it's a foundation.

In the summer of 1978, the Gibb brothers announced their latest project at a news conference at the United Nations in New York City. All of the publishing royalties on their next single would go into UNICEF, to celebrate the International Year of the Child.
The song earned over $7 million dollars in publishing royalties.Too Much Heaven was the Bee Gees conrtibution to the "Music For UNICEF" fund.
1977 - Saturday Night Fever
In 1977's Saturday Night fever sparked not only a cultural phenomenon but was for two decades the biggest selling soundtrack record ever and it began a string of hit singles for the Bee Gees.
Staying Alive is a song about a struggle against the world, a victory just to survive, the lyrics describes the scenario about the survival in the city.
